DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT

Let’s Talk About The Triangle This Week.

Not the musical triangle, or the mathematical triangle or even the love triangle that shows up on so many television programs. Nope, I’m talking about your kitchen triangle. I am sure that most of you have heard that the kitchen is supposed to be engineered so that all of the major components are within an imaginary triangle so that you can utilize your space more effectively. I say hogwash!

Here’s the way I see it. Back in the early to mid 1900’s all we had was the sink, range and refrigerator. These three major components did indeed form a triangular work space mostly by default. Apparently and for the life of me some one decided this should be engineered into all kitchens. Bunk! How much more baloney can we possibly swallow. The kitchen simply is not about an engineer demanding anything.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It sets the pace and tone for the rest of the house in so many ways. The kitchen is all about folks stopping by and having tea and a chat. It’s about your kids doing homework while you finish up the casserole. It’s about blueberry pancakes on a Saturday morning that the whole family looks forward to. It’s about your children growing up right before your eyes. It’s about celebrations when successes have been realized and tears when the youngest finally goes away to college. To me it’s the safest place in the world.

So when you and your kitchen designer plan your kitchen, do it as if it was the most important place in the world for you, your family and your friends. If you do this I am absolutely positive you will have engineered the kitchen of your dreams.
