More Kitchen Than You Expected
July 30th, 2013
Every once in a while something happens that we don’t expect. Below is a note that was attached to a survey that we send out to all of our customers at the end of their renovation or new construction project. This was written for Gwen Andersen who is one of our design consultants.
“Gwen, my mother has never wanted to be here, at all (my father’s health requires it). However, since my kitchen renovation, she has stated twice that there is nothing back in Rhode Island for her, other than my brother (which is important of course). Her siblings have passed and her friends don’t call any longer. Sounds sad but I think your kitchen design has made this very dreary condo into something much better, and she is seeing the potential. Your job was to design a kitchen but little did you know what impact you would have.” Again, job well done Gwen.
We send out surveys to help us do a better job each time. The surveys help to reinforce what we are all about on a job by job basis. It reminds us to constantly be aware of the right way of doing business. It also reminds us to remember that we are dealing with people and that they always deserve the best that we can give. In addition, we too can learn from any oversites. So, it should be no surprise that we find that this is an extremely valuable tool. And sometimes, as a bonus, we get notes like the one above.
For the next six issues I am going to delve into each of the talking points that we have on our survey. That is… Service, Communication, Knowledge, Quality, Ease of doing business and Installation team. By discussing these points individually I believe I am going to help you, the reader, to shop for your next renovation no matter how large or small it is. I hope to show you what to look for and how to recognize the better sub-contractors and contractors that are available to you.
